GOD'S PREPARATION OF FRUITS: BLUEBERRIES
In the creation of the world, God prepared fruits as food to the inhabitants of the world. He placed certain fruits in certain specific areas and He put blueberries in North America and Canada.
"And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
And the earth brought forth the grass, and herb yielding seed ater his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw it was good" (Genesis 1:11-12).
God declared in Genesis 1:29, " Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; for you it shall be for meat" (vs. 31) And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold it was very good."
BLUEBERRIES
Blueberries are native to Canada and the United States and found growing in the woods and mountainous regions. They are rarely found growing in Europe and have been introduced in South Australia and New Zealand only recently. In the Southern Hemisphere, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay and South Africa are also exporters.
Many researches are conducted on the benefits of blueberries, and the studies are done mainly in the United States because the blueberries are native to the United States and Canada.. Labs across the world demonstrate evidence blueberries are important in a healthy diet. Blueberries which contain antioxidants are thought to help protect the body against the damaging effects of free radicals and the chronic diseases of the aging process.

In this study, which involved over 110,000 women and men, researchers evaluated the effect of study participants' consumption of fruits; vegetables; the antioxidant vitamins A, C, and E; and carotenoids on the development of early ARMD or neovascular ARMD, a more severe form of the illness associated with vision loss. Food intake information was collected periodically for up to 18 years for women and 12 years for men. While, surprisingly, intakes of vegetables, antioxidant vitamins and carotenoids were not strongly related to incidence of either form of ARMD, fruit intake was definitely protective against the severe form of this vision-destroying disease. Three servings of fruit may sound like a lot to eat each day, but by simply topping off a cup of yogurt or green salad with a half cup of blueberries, tossing a banana into your morning smoothie or slicing it over your cereal, and snacking on an apple, plum, nectarine or pear, you've reached this goal.
Blueberries and Protection Against Ovarian Cancer
Blueberries May Reduce the Risk for Ovarian Cancer
A study conducted from 1984 to 2002 indicated that eating blueberries reduced the risk of ovarian cancer. Among their rich supply of phytonutrients, blueberries include a flavonoid (classified as Vitamin P and citrin) called kaempferol. Research calculating flavonoid intake in 66,940 women enrolled in the Health Study between 1984 and 2002 revealed that women whose diets provided the most kaempferol (a natural flavonoid) had a 40% reduction in risk of ovarian cancer, compared to women eating the least kaempferol-rich foods. In addition to blueberries, foods richest in kaempferol include tea (non-herbal), onions, curly kale, leeks, spinach, and broccoli. A significant 34% reduction in ovarian cancer risk was also seen in women with the highest intake of the flavonoid luteolin which is found in citrus (Source 1; Source 2).
Flavanoids are compounds with antioxidant properties that protect cells against damage by oxygen molecules. In a study which compared flavonoid intake among women with and without ovarian cancer, women reporting the highest apigenin intake had a decrease in ovarian cancer risk over women reporting the lowest apigenin intake.
The researchers assessed the foods commonly eaten over a one-week period by 1,141 women with ovarian cancer and 1,183 women without. The women had similar characteristics except those with ovarian cancer reported more known risk factors for the disease and had slightly greater body mass and daily calorie intake. By contrast, the women without cancer had a slightly healthier overall diet.
From the food data, it became evident that the women’s intake was composed of 5 common flavonoids: myricetin, kaempferol, quercetin, luteolin, and apigenin. These 5 flavonoids are obtained by drinking tea, red wine, eating apples, leaf lettuce, kale, blueberries, oranges, celery, and tomato sauce (Source).

Blueberries can help relieve both diarrhea and constipation. In addition to soluble and insoluble fiber, blueberries also contain tannins, which act as astringents in the digestive system to reduce inflammation. Blueberries also promote urinary tract health. Blueberries contain the same compounds found in cranberries that help prevent or eliminate urinary tract infections. In order for bacteria to infect, they must first adhere to the mucosal lining of the urethra and bladder. Components found in cranberry and blueberry juice reduce the ability of E. coli , the bacteria that is the most common cause of urinary tract infections, to adhere.
