God in His wisdom gives different parts of the world assorted fruits peculiar to their own climate. The longan (dragon eye in Chinese) fruit tree is found in China, and south east Asia. It is now grown also in subtropical states of America. The fruit is similar to that of the lychee which is more well known to the rest of the world. The fruit is smaller in size and the colour is yellow brown. The size of the longan is like that of a grape, only more round with a big, black, round, ebony seed, which the Chinese described as dragon's eye. They are mostly sold in bunches and in pounds. Longan is used in herbal preparations in China and can be eaten either raw, dried or cooked.

LEG CRAMPS

I spoke to Dr. Robin J. Chiu in church during lunch break about my frequent leg cramps at night. and he advised me to eat longan. I told him that longan was sweet and I am a border line diabetic and was afraid to try. However, I changed my mind when after church service, our family went for food shopping for the week. I bought longan for $3.50 (1 1/2 lb) wrapped in cellophane which lasted me for a week.. That night I ate 10 of the fruit and there was no leg cramps that night. Subsequently, I tried with 6, 8 of the fruit to see how it works.

Besides my leg cramps, I also suffer from rapid heart beat and my heart became much calmer. Earlier, I had asked the church to pray for my heart problem. I had undergone two Thallium Stress Test (5 hours) and had a Holter monitor (ECG) (24 hours). God works in mysterious ways. Praise and thank God, eating longan seemed to do the trick, and I was excited the next day.and felt that I must search the web for more information about the fruit in order to write about it.
